My Journey into Motherhood: What I’ve Learned as a First-Time Mum.

Before becoming a mum, I thought I had a pretty good idea of what it would be like—after all, I’d read the books, watched the videos, asked the questions and many nieces and nephews. But nothing truly prepares you for the moment your baby arrives and life changes in the most beautiful, chaotic, and heart-expanding way!

Becoming a first-time mum has been the most hardest and overwhelming experience of my life. From the very first sleepless nights to that unforgettable moment my daughter smiled at me for the first time, motherhood has taught me lessons I never knew I needed.

The Early Days: A Blur of Emotions

Those first few weeks felt like one long day on repeat—feeding, nappies, cuddles, and very little sleep. I questioned myself constantly. Was I doing enough? Was I doing it right? Am I supposed to be feeling this way? But slowly, I started to trust my instincts. I learned that it’s okay not to have all the answers. In fact, no one does.

Finding Myself Again

One of the biggest surprises for me was how much I changed—not just as a mum, but as a person. It’s easy to lose your identity in those early months. I had to remind myself that it’s okay to still want time for me, to keep chasing my goals, and to find new ways to express myself (like through my business, Love Mallorie!).

The Little Things Mean the Most

Motherhood has taught me to slow down. To celebrate small wins. To find joy in the simple moments—a giggle, a snuggle, a quiet nap. These are the memories I know I’ll treasure forever.

What I’d Tell Other New Mums

You’re doing better than you think. Give yourself grace. Ask for help when you need it. And know that even on the hard days, your love is more than enough.

Motherhood isn’t always easy, but it is always worth it. I’m still learning, still growing, and still finding my way—but I wouldn't trade this journey for anything.

If you’re a new mum or expecting soon, I’m sending you so much love. You’ve got this.
